Analyzing films every few weeks – between arthouse and pop culture
by and with Bianca & Barbara
NED WUASCHT – WIR GEH’N FISCH’N is a critical, diversity-focused feminist film podcast by Vienna-based film scholars
Bianca Jasmina Rauch and Barbara Wolfram.
We also work in the film and theatre industry, as well as in film journalism and artistic research for film. Every few weeks, we present and discuss tools for critical, diversity-oriented film analysis—either introducing them dialogically or applying them directly to selected films or series. Since our primary research focuses on Austrian cinema at the Film Academy Vienna / mdw, each episode pairs an Austrian film or series with a more international, mainstream counterpart.
We also discuss evidence-based proposals for greater gender equality, inclusion, and diversity—on and off screen.
The current third season once again includes in-depth analyses of films and series from Austria and beyond. This time, however, we also feature conversations with Austrian filmmakers and a few English-language episodes. The thematic focus of this season is the depiction and representation of labor and social class.
The third season launched in summer 2024, and you can find it here.
In spring 2025, we started something new – an English-language season, which you can find here.

Thank you to the ÖFI – Austrian Film Institute for supporting our third season!

Thank you to the City of Vienna’s Department of Cultural Affairs (MA7) for supporting our first two seasons!
